Jonathan A. Cortez is music’s biggest fan. Born to New Yorican (Puerto Ricans born in New York) parents the Bronx native was born with entertaining in his veins. Growing up with music always playing in the house, Jonathan’s grass roots of oldies, doo-wop, motown, and all songs classic began at an early age. As a child he was surrounded by singers, musicians, family and friends that would get together and play music and sing accapella to all their favorite oldies songs. As his ear for harmony and song developed he would soon take the reigns as lead singer among the family and sing at numerous social events.

Eventually the family would move to North Carolina where Jonathan was quickly introduced to all forms of rock ‘n’ roll, blues and soul. While adjusting to southern living Jonathan found solace in music. In high school he embraced the school’s chorus program where he gained an appreciation for the music of broadway, opera, and jazz. In addition to broadening his musical tastes, he also experienced the excitement of performing for large audiences onstage. This would play a key role in making Jonathan the performing artist he is today. He later toured with

FUSION; a funk, rock, soul, and r&b band in which he was offered the helm as lead singer allowing him the opportunity to sing music by some of his greatest influences such as Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder.

Since then, Jonathan has won many accolades as an entertainer from winning numerous talent competitions for both singing and dancing to appearing on various television programs and concerts. He was the runner up on ABC’s Charlotte network program “Gimme The Mike” Charlotte, has performed on Tampa Bays Community Network, as well as participated as a contestant on Fox’s American Idol. He has been asked to both perform and be interviewed on the airwaves of major radio stations and is often a featured guest entertainer for various concerts.

All this experience makes him the perfect choice for any event requiring premium entertainment with experience, charm, and personality.

Currently, Jonathan is performing across the South East winning listeners over a crowd at a time. He enjoys meeting new and interesting people, and most of all doing what he does best – performing for lovers of music.
